1st BRP registration for Dutch citizens coming from abroad (you do not have a BSN)
If you are a Dutch citizen and will be living in The Hague longer than 4 months, you need to register at the municipality. This is required by law. This 1st registration is for people who do not yet have a citizen service number (BSN).

1st BRP registration for EU/EEA and Swiss nationals coming from abroad (you do not have a BSN)
Do you have the nationality of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland and will you be living in The Hague for 4 months or longer? Then you need to register at the municipality.

1st BRP registration when coming from abroad with residence permit (you do not have a BSN)
Do you have the nationality of a country from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland? Have you never previously lived in the Netherlands? And will you be living in The Hague for 4 months or longer? Then you need to register at the municipality.

BRP registration for highly skilled migrants and scientific researchers coming from abroad
Do you fall within the highly skilled migrant or scientific researcher scheme? And are you coming from abroad to live in The Hague, Delft, Leidschendam-Voorburg or Rijswijk for more than 4 months? You can get an expedited procedure for BRP registration.

BRP registration for privileged persons
Are you working in the Netherlands as a diplomat or consular officer? Then you have special residency status as a privileged person. You can register in the BRP in the Municipality of The Hague.

Registration procedures for international students
International students who will be staying in The Hague for longer than 4 months are required to be registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP). The students will then get a citizen service number (BSN).
