Taking your rubbish to a waste depot
Bring your bulky waste, garden waste and construction and demolition waste to a waste depot in The Hague. Most types of waste are accepted free of charge. You can take reusable goods to a charity shop (kringloopwinkel).
The waste depots are not intended for Begin link: company waste, end link. . Do you have a grey licence plate? Then bring with you your Afvalpas, a valid form of identification and letter with your details. From 15 December 2025 the municipality will check this.
You can take your rubbish to 1 of the 3 waste depots. Are you unable to bring your bulky waste or garden waste there yourself? Make an appointment to arrange the free Begin link: collection of bulky waste, end link. . For construction and demolition waste you can pay a fee to have it collected. You need to make a Begin link: separate appointment, end link. for this.
You can bring your bulky waste, garden waste and construction and demolition waste to one of the waste depots. They are open from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 to 17.00 hrs. During the holidays the waste depots are closed or have different opening hours:
- closed on: 25 and 26 December 2025 and 1 January 2026
- open on: 24 and 31 December 2025 (until 16.00 hrs.)

The staff at the waste depots will help you put your bulky waste in the correct container. Bulky waste will be sorted by type, such as wood, stone and iron. This makes it possible to reuse or recycle valuable materials and to process harmful materials.

Company waste
Companies may not drop off their rubbish at a waste depot. Contract an authorised waste management company to collect your company waste. You will find more information on the page Begin link: Waste removal for companies, end link. .
Reusable goods
Reusable goods can be taken to a recycled goods shop (kringloopwinkel). For example, functioning televisions, clothing or furniture. Some charity shops have a collection service. Cargo bicycles
Did you know that the waste depots are also accessible to (cargo) bicycles? Do not forget that there is a steep ramp and take your Afvalpas with you.

Do you have a grey licence plate? For example, a company van, delivery van or a vehicle with a trailer? Then you must bring the following:
- your Afvalpas
- a valid form of identification (passport, ID cart or drivers licence)
- a letter showing your name and address. The letter may not be older than 3 months.
