Subsidy expanded for rain barrel and green roof
The subsidy for a rain barrel and a ‘green roof’ has been expanded from 10 to 26 neighbourhoods. The measure helps to limit flooding. The subsidy is also available to groups of owners or tenants.
The intensity and frequency of heavy rainfall is increasing due to climate change. This is leading to more flooding in the city, especially in neighbourhoods where there are few parks and trees. The municipality is working to create more green spaces, so that the excess water can be absorbed. And so that water can be temporarily stored. Residents can help with this. For example, by placing a rain barrel in their garden or constructing a green roof. The municipality is supporting these measures with subsidies.
