Request marriage booklet or partnership booklet

• You got married or entered into a civil partnership in The Hague.
• Did you get married or enter into a civil partnership outside of the Netherlands? You can Begin link: convert a foreign certificate into a Dutch certificate, end link. with the Registry Office of the Municipality of The Hague. The condition is that 1 of the partners has Dutch citizenship (nationality). Once your marriage certificate or partnership certificate is registered you can request a marriage booklet or partnership booklet.

When registering an intended marriage or civil partnership

You request a marriage booklet or partnership booklet at the same time you register an intended marriage or partnership. You can choose either a standard beige booklet or a booklet with a luxurious blue or white binder.

Request a booklet later

Did you lose the booklet or would you like to request a 2nd copy? Or did you get married or enter into a civil partnership but you did not request a marriage booklet or partnership booklet at the time? Then you can apply online for a duplicate copy.

Fees:

• standard marriage booklet: € 16.60 
• marriage booklet with a luxurious binder (blue or white): € 37.60 
• duplicate copy of standard marriage booklet: € 16.60 
• duplicate copy of luxurious marriage booklet (blue or white): € 37.60 

You will also need to pay postage costs. After you apply, you will get an invoice by email.

You will get the marriage booklet or partnership booklet during the ceremony.

Are you requesting the booklet later? The municipality will send it to you within 3 weeks. When you receive it depends on the postal service.

• The civil registrar will place his or her signature in the booklet during the ceremony. If you request a marriage booklet or partnership booklet later, you will get the booklet without the civil registrar’s signature.
• The marriage booklet or partnership booklet is available only in Dutch.
• You can include additional information in the marriage booklet or partnership booklet. Such as children, witnesses, religious ceremonies and details about death.

• Your marriage booklet or partnership booklet will always contain your birth name. Would you like the municipality to address you by another name after your wedding, for example by the name of your husband or wife? Go to Begin link: Request a change in the use of your surname, end link. .
