Separating waste: electric appliances

Do you have old or broken electric appliances such as refrigerators or smartphones? Turn them in separately at the shop where you purchased the appliance, a waste depot or a city farm.

Electric appliances contain valuable raw materials such as steel, aluminium, copper, glass and synthetic materials. These can be used to make new products. Potentially hazardous materials will be treated separately so that they do not pollute the environment.

Turn in electric appliances

Does the appliance have a plug or is it battery operated? Then it is an electric appliance. In The Hague you can turn in your electric appliances for free at various places:

  • In the shop: When you buy a new appliance, you can turn in your old appliance for free. The supplier of your new appliance is legally obliged to take back your old appliance without charging you.
You can dispose of energy-saving lights and LED light bulbs at 1 of the Begin link: waste depots, end link. and at many shops where these types of lamps are sold.
