Apply for exemption from low-emission or zero-emission zone

The low-emission zone and zero-emission zone are areas where only clean(er) vehicles are allowed to drive. Do you drive a vehicle with harmful exhaust gases? Then you are usually only allowed to enter such an area with an exemption. Find out which exemption you can apply for.

Good to know

  • The low-emission zone in the port area applies to: passenger cars, vans and diesel-powered trucks.
  • The low-emission zone in the city centre applies to: diesel-powered passenger cars and passenger buses.
  • The low-emission zone throughout The Hague applies to: old mopeds and motorised bikes.
  • The zero-emission zone applies to: vans and trucks running on diesel, petrol and LPG.
