Consent for passport for children younger than 18 years

To get a passport children need written permission from the people with parental responsibility. This is usually both parents. This applies to children younger than 18 years.

Who has to give permission?

All of the people with parental responsibility must give written permission.

  • Do several people have parental responsibility? Then they all must give permission. 
  • If 1 of the parents does not have parental responsibility, he or she does not have to give permission.
  • Is somebody else (also) the guardian of your child? Then this person must (also) give permission.

How do you give permission?

All of the people with parental responsibility must give written permission. How you do this depends on who will accompany the child to the appointment. This will also determine what you need to take with you.
