Wedding locations
You can get married or enter into a civil partnership at 3 municipal offices. The ceremony lasts a maximum of 45 minutes. This block of time lasts from the moment the wedding couple enters the room until they are congratulated. For a free or simplified wedding the ceremony lasts 10 minutes.
About the location
The wedding hall on the Spui offers an enchanting atmosphere. There is a reception room in a similar design.

The Groenmarkt wedding hall is the former city hall of the municipality. You and your partner can say ‘I do’ in this 16th-century building. The reception room is the oldest room in the building: the old aldermen’s hall or ‘vierschaar’.

Simplified or free civil ceremony
You can arrange a simplified or free wedding or civil partnership at the Centrum wedding hall. You will then have a modest ceremony lasting 10 minutes. The free and simplified ceremony are both popular. Book a time slot well in advance.
Times:
- Monday at 9.30 and 10.00 hrs.
- Tuesday at 9.00, 9.30, 10.00, 10.30, 11.00 and 11.30 hrs.
- People who may attend: maximum of 10 people. For example: the wedding couple, the civil registrar, 2 to 4 witnesses, 2 extra guests if desired and a photographer.
- Fees: € 171 (in 2024)
The civil registrar will not give a speech during a simplified ceremony. The civil registrar will also not contact you beforehand. You will not get any parking cards and you will not be able to play any music.
- Times: Monday at 9.00 and 9.15 hrs.
- People who may attend: maximum of 10 people. For example: the wedding couple, the civil registrar, 2 to 4 witnesses, 2 extra guests if desired and a photographer.
- Fees: free
The civil registrar will not give a speech during a free ceremony. The civil registrar will also not contact you beforehand. You will not get any parking cards and you will not be able to play any music.
Reschedule or cancel
To reschedule or cancel send an email to Begin link: trouwen@denhaag.nl, end link. . Include your personal information and the reference number (2 letters, 2 numbers) you received in an email after you registered your intended marriage or civil partnership. Include a copy of your identification and bank card.
The 1st time you reschedule a wedding, it is free. The 2nd time you pay a fee of € 171.05. Do you want to cancel your wedding? This is free until a maximum of 6 weeks before the ceremony. After this the municipality will charge you all the fees you owe. This will also happen if you do not appear at the ceremony.

- When you reserve your municipal wedding location at a municipal counter you will need to pay right away. When you make a reservation online, you will receive an invoice by email.
- You must be at the wedding location 15 minutes before the ceremony.
Rules at the wedding locations
There are a number of rules at the municipal wedding locations:
- You may not eat and drink at the locations.
- Pets are not permitted inside. Guide dogs are allowed.
- It is not permitted to release balloons, throw confetti or rice or blow bubbles. You are also not allowed to light firecrackers.
- The municipality advises against releasing doves at wedding ceremonies. This can put the welfare of these animals at risk.
