Safe wireless internet (Wi-Fi) in The Hague
If you are visiting a public municipal building, you can use publicroam. This is free Wi-Fi in the public space for everyone. Publicroam guarantees a secure connection and protects your data against cybercriminals.
Publicroam locations
You have access to publicroam at the following locations of the Municipality of The Hague:
- city district offices
- city farms
- libraries
- Centres for Children and Families (CJG)
- sports halls
- swimming pools
- Haagse Markt

Sign in and connect
Step 1: register
First sign in with your mobile telephone. You can do this in 2 ways:
- download the publicroam app via the App Store or Google Play
- send a text message (SMS) with ‘publicroam’ to +31 970 10 260 261
Step 2: connect
You can connect to publicroam in 2 ways.
If you are using the publicroam app, your telephone or tablet will connect to a publicroam Wi-Fi network automatically.
Do you have an iPhone, iPad, Macbook or Windows laptop?
- Go to the Wi-Fi settings and select ‘publicroam’
- Log in with your username and password (see text message)
- Check your details and accept the certificate
- Click on connect
Do you have an Android telephone or a Chromebook laptop?
- Go to the Wi-Fi settings and select ‘publicroam’
- Fill in:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Verification phase 2: MSCHAPv2
- CA-certificate: Do not validate / Not specified
- Identity: username (see text message)
- Password: password (see text message)
- Anonymous identity: leave empty
- Click on connect

These include buildings used by the municipality, Dutch government, the province of South Holland and the water board. This makes it easier to work together and to work remotely.
