Rat problem

It can sometimes take a few weeks before the municipality takes action to prevent and get rid of rats. This is because the municipality has to abide by certain laws and rules.

How it works

  • The municipality will always start an investigation when it receives a report of a new spot with rats.
  • The municipality will examine the measures needed in your neighbourhood to combat the rat problem. For example, it will tidy up planting areas or clean the surroundings.
  • If the situation does not improve sufficiently, the municipality will take rodent control measures (pest management).

Good to know

  • It is important to report a problem with rats. Even if you have seen only 1 rat. A single rat does not necessarily mean there is a problem. But it could be a sign that there is a larger group of rats in the neighbourhood. For example, due to a problem with litter.
