Procedure after applying for and receiving an environment and planning permit

Have you applied for an environment and planning permit? Or have you already received it? Read which steps follow.

After your application

1. Announcement of application

The municipality will publish the application announcement on Begin external link: overuwbuurt.overheid.nl(External link), end external link. (in Dutch only). Neighbourhood residents and businesses can look at the application there. They can also view it at Begin link: The Hague Information Centre, end link..

2. Screening for completeness

The municipality will check whether the application is complete.

3. Provide missing information

If the application is not complete, you will get a letter with a request to provide the missing information.

Please note: If you do not respond in time, the application procedure will be stopped. You will then have to submit a new application for an Begin link: environment and planning permit, end link..

4. Evaluation

The municipality will check whether the application complies with the rules. If your application does not comply with all the rules, you will be notified. The municipality will talk with you to see whether the application can be changed so that it does comply with the rules.

5. Determine procedure

The municipality determines which procedure applies to your application. This can be a short or an broad procedure.

6. Announcement of decision

The municipality will decide on the requested permit. You can find this decision on Begin external link: overuwbuurt.overheid.nl(External link), end external link.. You can also look at the decision at Begin link: The Hague Information Centre, end link..

When you receive your permit

1. Check the permit

Most construction projects require multiple activities, such as an environment and planning permit, and a technical construction activity. The municipality checks whether the permit for all activities has been granted. You will then receive an email with additional information. This includes, for example, the contact details of the supervisor and sometimes documents that you still need to share.

2. Provide additional information

Have you not yet submitted all the required information? Please share it now. The municipality will check whether this information is complete and correct.

3. Report start of work

After you have received the permit, report the start of the works via Begin external link: Omgevingsloket(External link), end external link.. The supervisor will then contact you and monitor the project.

4. Building according to the permit

During the works, you must build in accordance with the permit and the accompanying drawings. If you deviate from this, a modification to the construction plan may be necessary.

5. Report completion of work

Report via Omgevingsloket that the works are completed.

Perform final check

The supervisor checks whether the work has been carried out in accordance with the permit. Are there no outstanding issues? Then you may use the structure.
