Getting to The Hague's beaches
Choose the wisest way of travelling to The Hague's coast. The fastest way to get to the beach is by bicycle, public transportation, moped or a shared bike or e-moped. Are you planning to drive? Park using Park + Beach or in a parking garage.
Getting to Scheveningen and Kijkduin

By bicycle, moped, shared bicycle or shared e-moped
Cycle to the beach using the safe and clearly marked cycling routes.
Park your bicycle, shared bicycle or moped (scooter) along the boulevard in 1 of the free bicycle parking facilites.
Park your shared e-moped (deelscooter) in 1 of the specially designated spaces, including at the Zwarte Pad, Korte Zeekant, Vissershavenweg and at the Beach Stadium. You can find the parking facilities in the app of the providers (Felyx, Go Sharing and Check).
By tram
From Den Haag Hollands Spoor (HS) station:
- Take Tram 1 and Tram 9 in the direction of Scheveningen Noord
- Take Tram 11 in the direction of Strandweg
- Take Tram 12 in the direction of Markenseplein (Duindorp/Zuiderstrand)
From The Hague's Central Station (CS):
- Take Tram 9 in the direction of Scheveningen Noord
By bus
From the Voorburg and Laan van NOI stations:
- Take Bus 23 in the direction of Scheveningen Noord
- Take Bus 28 in the direction of Den Haag Zuiderstrand
From The Hague's Central Station (CS):
- Take Bus 22 in the direction of Den Haag Duindorp (there are a number of stops along the coast)
From Den Haag Vrederust:
- Take Bus 21 in the direction of Scheveningen-Noord
By boat
The Willemsvaart sails every day between the Koekamp (directly in front of Central Station) and the Haringkade. From the Haringkade it is a 10-minute walk to the beach. Look for more information at www.willemsvaart.nl.
By car
On busy days it is often difficult to find a parking spot at the beach. Are you planning to drive? Then it is faster and easier to park using Park + Beach or in a parking garage. On-street parking in residential areas costs € 6.50 per hour and there is a maximum time limit of 2 hours.
In a number of residential streets in Scheveningen on-street parking costs € 50 per day without a permit. You will no longer be able to pay by the minute or hour. More information can be found in Dutch at Parkeren in Scheveningen.
Park + Beach
With Park + Beach you reserve a parking space in the parking garages at CS New Babylon, Malieveld and the World Forum. These garages are located just outside of Scheveningen. From there you can continue your journey quickly and easily to Scheveningen using public transportation or a shared bicycle or e-moped (scooter). Park + Bike
With Park + Bike you reserve a parking spot at Park + Bike Duindigt. From there you can cycle to the beach using a Haagsche Stadsfiets. Look at the fees at www.parkenbikedenhaag.nl/tarieven.
By motorcycle
Park your motorcycle in the 2 free parking zones on the Strandweg. This is as of the Scheveningse Slag and between the Adriaan Maasplein and the Strandweg.

Cycle to the beach using the safe and clearly marked cycling routes.
Park your bicycle for free in the Kijkduinsestraat bicycle parking facility or at the Zandvoortselaan car park.
Park your moped (scooter) at the Zandvoortselaan car park.
- Park your shared e-moped (deelscooter) in its own parking facility, which you can find in the app of the providers (Felyx, Go Sharing and Check).
By bus
From The Hague's Centraal Station (CS) and Laan van NOI station:
Take Bus 24 in the direction of Den Haag Kijkduin
From Den Haag Moerwijk station:
Take Bus 26 in the direction of Den Haag Kijkduin
By car
On busy days it is often difficult to find a parking spot at the beach. Are you planning to drive? Because Kijkduin is under construction there are diversion routes. Shops, restaurants, homes, the beach and the beach restaurants will remain accessible during the project.
You can park your car:
in the central reservation of the Kijkduinsestraat
at the Zandvoortselaan car park
along the Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan from the Kijkduinsestraat
People with a disability
People using a wheelchair, mobility scooter or walker can easily get to The Hague's beaches.

The Hague's beaches have a number of spots where a (regio) taxi can drop you off. Read more or reserve a taxi through AV 070.

You can hire (electric) beach wheelchairs for a ride on the beach at the bicycle parking facility on the Strandweg in Scheveningen. Or you can hire a ScoutCrawler. You then use your own wheelchair in this mobility aid which has caterpillar tracks.
