Get married at a designated location

Are you looking for a special place to get married in The Hague? Then getting married at a designated location could be something for you.

Conditions

  • The location must be easily accessible. Also for disabled people or people who have difficulty walking.
  • The location must be accessible to the public.
  • The location must not conflict with public order or accepted rules of good conduct.
  • The location must be safe.
  • There should be sanitary facilities at the location.
  • There must be a dressing area for the civil registrar.
  • The location may not be a home, private garden, church, mosque or other place of worship. A building can be designated as a wedding venue if it has not been used as a place of worship for 5 years.

Would you like to get married or enter into a registered partnership at a location which has already been designated as a wedding venue? Then you can have this venue complete the Statement of approval (PDF) below. You must upload the statement when you register your intended marriage or registered partnership.

Designate a new location

Would you like to get married or enter into a registered partnership at a spot which has not been designated as a wedding venue? That is possible. The municipality must first designate the spot as a one-time or permanent wedding venue. The building will need to meet a a number of conditions.

Would you like to designate a location as a one-time or permanent wedding venue? Then the location can fill in the Statement of approval and the application form and send them by email to: trouwen@denhaag.nl. You need to apply at least 4 weeks before the ceremony.

In addition to these municipal fees you may have costs for the venue itself. You need to pay these costs directly to the wedding venue.

You will need to pay at the municipal counter when you reserve your wedding venue. You can pay in cash or use a bank card at City Hall Spui. You can only use a bank card at the Leyweg City Office. Unfortunately it is not possible to pay by credit card.

For an online booking you will receive an invoice by post.
