Demonstration on Malieveld on 27 May
Extinction Rebellion activists have announced in the media that they will block the Utrechtsebaan section of the A12 motorway on 27 May. The mayor has established that blocking the motorway is prohibited. Demonstrations are allowed on the nearby Malieveld.

Municipality presents 2022 annual account
The municipality presented the annual account for 2022 on 10 May 2023. The Municipal Council, residents, businesses and organisations can see how the municipality spent its budget. The Hague spent more than € 3 billion in the city last year.

Benoordenhout to get new library
Benoordenhout will get a new, temporary library. The library will be located in the space under the ANWB building on the Wassenaarseweg. The new library should open at the end of 2023.

Reinforcement work for quay wall in Second Harbour to be done sooner
The municipality will start repair work on part of a quay wall on the Dr. Lelykade as of 15 May 2023. It will reinforce the bottom for safety reasons. The work will take approximately 1 month. The quay will remain open to traffic.

Donate your used children’s bikes
The municipality will be collecting used children’s bicycles from 1 May to 30 June 2023. The collection campaign in The Hague is part of the ANWB Kinderfietsenplan. Do you have a bicycle you are not using? Donate it.

New rules for visiting Japanese Garden due to crowds
The Japanese Garden is open again to the public. During the opening weekend more people visited the garden than it can safely handle. The municipality has therefore changed the rules for visiting the Japanese Garden.

Municipality investigating introduction of low-emission zone along coast
The municipality is investigating whether the coastal area can become a low-emission zone for cars and a zero-emission zone for trucks and delivery vans as of 1 January 2025. Certain petrol- or diesel-powered cars, trucks and vans will then not be allowed to drive in this type of zone.

Report crime in Scheveningen harbour
The municipality, police and the M. (Meld Misdaad Anoniem) phone line are working together to make the Scheveningen harbour safer. They are calling on residents and people who work there to report suspicious situations.
