Sending your postal vote

Send your postal vote on time. Read how to do this.

Here is how to send your postal vote:

  • Use the orange return envelope you received.
  • Write your own (return) address on the back of the envelope.
  • Send the envelope with sufficient postage.
  • Preferably use priority mail service.
Mail takes an average of 5 to 15 days, also from Europe. This depends on the country from which you are sending. Please note: a postal vote posted in the Netherlands also takes 5 days.

Confirmation of receipt by email

You will receive an email with a confirmation of receipt on the day the postal voting station opens your postal vote. This confirmation will be sent to the email address you used during your registration. The postal voting station is open from March 10 to March 22, 2027. During this period, the postal voting station will open all postal votes.

You will not receive a confirmation if:

  • your envelope has insufficient postage
  • your postal vote arrives too late
  • your (replacement) postal voting slip is missing.

Track and trace or sending by registered mail is not better or faster

It is not necessary to use Track & trace or to send your postal vote by registered mail. This is not better or faster. The Track & trace information does not go across the border. And registered mail is not faster in The Netherlands. Do you have any questions about sending your postal vote? Contact your local postal service.

Return envelope or own envelope

Using the pre-addressed orange return envelope is not mandatory. You can also use your own envelope in any colour.

Would you still like to have a new orange return envelope? Request one by sending an email to Begin link: kbn.verkiezingen@denhaag.nl, end link. or by calling telephone number +31 (0) 70 353 44 00.

Are you using your own envelope? Then send it to:
