Rubbish rules for New Year period

Different rubbish containers will be locked shut shortly before the end of the year to prevent fires and damage. You will not be able to use these containers. Read what you can do with your rubbish.

You will not be able to use the following containers in the New Year period:

  • Different underground rubbish containers. These will be closed on Friday, 31 December 2021 and Saturday, 1 January 2022.
  • Certain aboveground containers. These will be removed before the end of the year and put back into place in the new year.
  • All containers for paper and plastic packaging, tin and drink cartons will be sealed off on 31 December 2021 and 1 January 2022.
  • All containers for textiles. These will be locked from Monday, 27 December 2021 to Monday, 3 January 2022.

What can you do with your rubbish?

    • Dispose of your rubbish on time.
    • Do not leave any rubbish next to sealed containers. This only increases the chance of fire and damage.
    • Look at the household waste calendar to see when old paper will be collected in your street. Paper will not be collected between 25 December 2021 and 2 January 2022.

    Bulky waste

Do you have bulky waste? No bulky waste will be collected from Saturday, 25 December 2021 to Sunday, 2 January 2022. You can dispose of it yourself at a waste drop-off centre. Or you make an appointment as of Monday, 3 January 2022 to arrange collection of bulky waste and garden waste.

Clean up campaign on 1 January

The municipality will get to work in the new year to get the streets cleaned up again. Many residents pitch in by sweeping their sidewalk or street. Would you also like to help?

    Good to know:

    • firework debris can be disposed of together with household waste
    • be extra cautious with fireworks which have not gone off. Just to be sure: make the firework debris wet before putting it in the garbage bag
