Do you have a creative or inspirational idea to get residents to exercise more? Residents and organisations in The Hague are invited to submit their ideas for your Hague sport initiative. The best ideas can win money.

Last year 40 organisations in The Hague and private individuals took part in this project and received a budget to carry out their ideas.

The goal of the Hague sport initiative is to encourage residents who do not get enough exercise to become more active. For example, seniors, people with a disability, girls with a non-western background or residents with a low income. The municipality is looking for initiatives to make sure that they exercise or do sports regularly, preferably every week.

Submit sport initiative

Residents of The Hague as well as non-profit organisations can submit a Hague sport initiative. Organisations can include sport clubs, welfare organisations, foundations and neighbourhood associations. You can fill in and submit the form on www.haagssportinitiatief.nl before 11 May 2017 at 17.00 hrs. The conditions for participation can also be found on the website.

Monetary prizes

The best initiatives will be eligible for a maximum amount of € 10,000. The winning amount depends on what is suitable and required for the initiative. The initiative should be able to continue to exist and be organised without a municipal contribution.

Evaluation and vote

The municipality will test whether the sport initiative meets the conditions. All the approved ideas will be posted on the website of the Hague sport initiative on 5 June. As of that moment all residents of The Hague can vote for their favourite sport initiative. The winning initiatives will be announced during the finals of the City Games on 1 July. More information about the City Games can be found at website www.stadsspelendenhaag.nl.

Different categories

The sport initiatives will be placed into 3 different categories so that small and larger initiatives have an equal chance of winning. In each category the initiatives with the most votes will be rewarded. If there is still budget left, it will be divided on the basis of the number of votes.
