- 25 April 2017
The former large tax office building directly across from the Hollands Spoor train station, will undergo a metamorphosis after standing vacant for 7 years.
The 14,000 square metre office will become a modern and lively complex with apartments, a hotel and catering establishments. The building will have 66 medium-priced rental apartments and 199 hotel rooms. The supermarket and restaurants now located on the ground floor will remain there.
According to Deputy Mayor Joris Wijsmuller (Urban Development and Public Housing), ‘The transformation of these striking empty office buildings is giving the neighbourhood a boost. The Stationsbuurt has gone from being a deprived area to a lively and attractive neighbourhood.’
Last autumn the small tax office building across the street was turned into a building with student flats. Before the summer the nearby ‘The Y' building will start providing accommodation to hundreds of starters and students. The public space around the Stationsplein will also be improved and made more lively the coming months.
Project developer FRED Developers is expected to start the construction project in the autumn of 2017. The building should be ready before the end of 2018.
