Commercial parties can indicate their interest to the Municipality of The Hague to develop the first 2 building lots in the Trekvlietzone.
At least 265 apartments should be constructed on the 2 lots and 3,000 square metres will be developed into office space. The third lot, which will become available later, is earmarked for the construction of a parking garage with 400 parking spaces. This garage will be largely be made ‘green’ and could have a green roof with plants and trees.
The Trekvlietzone, located between the Trekvliet canal and the Binckhorstlaan, is part of the Binckhorst. The lots are next to the Fokker Terminal.
Undiscovered side of the city centre
According to Deputy Mayor Boudewijn Revis (Outdoor Space), ‘The commercial parties get a wonderful opportunity to take part in developing this area. It will be an area offering a combination of homes, offices and recreational space. This area is starting to take form and we are seeing this undiscovered side of The Hague’s city centre develop into an innovative, economically attractive and green area.’
Quality and sustainability are the spearheads for the lots which are slated for development. ‘In the Binckhorst we would like to seize real opportunities to find sustainable solutions both in the outdoor space by introducing plenty of green and water as well as in the creation of new homes. One example is hooking up homes to the district heating network so that they are gas-free. Other examples are creating green roofs or facades and using solar energy and charging points for electric cars in the garage,’ said Revis.
This phase will conclude at the end of 2017 when the municipality decides on the project developer.
