Apply for parking permit in person

The fastest way to arrange a parking permit is by applying online. Would you rather apply in person at a municipal counter? Make an appointment at the Centrum or Escamp city office.

What to bring to the appointment

Always bring (a copy of) your passport, Dutch identity card or driving licence. When applying for a parking permit for residents, you also need to show the following documents:

  • registration certificate 1A and 1B or your number plate card (the card which replaces the old registration certificate)
  • bank pass or bank statement (not more than 1 week old)
  • cohabitation contract. This is only needed if the car is registered in the name of your partner and you and your partner are not married or have an unmarried partnership.

Are you moving to The Hague but you are not yet registered in the Municipality of The Hague? Then you will also need to submit a copy of a signed rental contract or purchase deed for your future home.

Depending on your situation, you may need to bring other documents to the appointment, such as a lease contract or information about the number of employees working at a company. The documents needed for your particular situation can be found under:

Payment

You can pay in cash or use a bank card at the Centrum and Escamp city offices.

How long does it take?

  • Parking permit for residents and companies: can take effect immediately.
  • Parking permit for visitors: can take effect after 4 days. You will receive your registration number by post and 1 day later you will receive the PIN code.

Request a permit for someone else

You can authorise someone to apply for a permit for you at the municipal counter. This person must bring the following documents to the appointment:

For a parking permit for residents:

  • his or her passport, Dutch identity card or driving licence
  • a copy of your passport, identity card or driving licence
  • a written and signed letter of authorisation from you giving the person permission to apply for the permit on your behalf
  • your bank card or a copy of your bank statement

For a parking permit for visitors:

  • his or her passport, Dutch identity card or driving licence
  • a copy of your passport, identity card or driving licence
  • a written and signed letter of authorisation from you giving the person permission to apply for the permit on your behalf
  • your bank card or a copy of your bank statement

For a parking permit for companies:

  • his or her passport, Dutch identity card or driving licence
  • a copy of the passport, identity card or driving licence of 1 of the company directors registered with the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel)
  • a letter of authorisation signed by 1 of the company directors registered with the Chamber of Commerce giving the person permission to apply for the permit on your behalf
  • your bank card or a copy of your bank statement
