Help create a new artwork in the Molenvlietpark
During the construction of the Rotterdamsebaan many archaeological finds were discovered near the Molenvlietpark. They are the inspiration for a special artwork which will be unveiled in the Molenvlietpark at the end of 2024. Artist Michael Rakowitz invites city residents to create it together.
The English title of the artwork ‘Be Longing’ refers to feeling at home somewhere, to feeling homesick (for the old place) and the longing for a new home.
Donate ceramic pieces
Using shards of donated ceramics (earthenware) the artist will create giant replicas of the archaeological finds. All residents of The Hague can contribute to the artwork. You can donate ceramic pieces at the following addresses:
- Ypenburg library, Schrabber 8 (Leidschenveen-Ypenburg)
- Stroom Den Haag, Hogewal 1-9 (Centrum)
- Participatie Keuken, Guntersteinweg 377 (Escamp)
Festive outdoor dinners
Together with the Participatie Keuken the artist organised 2 festive outdoor dinners in the Molenvlietpark on Saturday, 29 June and Sunday, 30 June 2024. Some 100 to 150 residents joined each dinner. Dancers performed a traditional Indonesian plate dance.
