Who may vote in the Provincial Council and Water Board elections

Only Dutch nationals are allowed vote in the Provincial Council elections on 20 March 2019. The Water Board elections, taking place on the same day, are open to everyone living officially in the Netherlands.

Provincial Council elections

In order to be able to vote in The Hague in the elections for the members of the Provincial Council of Zuid-Holland, you must fulfil all of the following conditions:

  • You have Dutch nationality.
  • You were registered in the Municipality of The Hague on 4 February 2019.
  • You are 18 years or older on election day (20 March 2019).
  • You have not lost the right to vote.

Water Board elections

In order to be able to vote in The Hague in the elections for the board members of the Delfland Water Authority (Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland), you must fulfil all of the following conditions:

  • You have Dutch nationality or the nationality of another European Union (EU) member state. Or you have another nationality and a valid residence permit (regardless of how long you will be staying in the Netherlands).
  • You were registered in the Municipality of The Hague on 4 February 2019.
  • You are 18 years or older on election day (20 March 2019).
  • You have not lost the right to vote.
