Settling from abroad

Are you coming from abroad to live in the Netherlands for the first time and will you be living in The Hague for more than 4 months? Or have you previously been registered with the Personal Records Database (BRP) in the Netherlands? Then you are required to (re)register with the BRP.

Everyone who comes from abroad and will live for more than 4 months in The Hague is required to register with the Personal Records Database (BRP). The procedure to be followed depends on your individual situation.

Settling from EU/EEA country or Switzerland

For people who have an EU/EEA or Swiss nationality.

Settling from abroad with residence permit application

For people who are coming from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland and for (married) partners of people with an EU/EEA or Swiss nationality.

Registration of privileged persons

Are you employed in the Netherlands as a diplomat or consular officer? Or at an international organisation? Then you have a special residency status.

Including Dutch citizens from the Caribbean Netherlands (the countries Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten and the municipalities Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius).
