Registration procedures for privileged persons

Are you employed in the Netherlands as a diplomat or consular officer? Or do you work for an international organisation, such as the United Nations? Then you have special residency status. You could consider registering in the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP, formerly the GBA).

  • If this situation does not apply to you, have a look at Settling from abroad.
  • Privileged persons can make an appointment to register in the BRP by sending an email to internationalcentre@denhaag.nl or by completing the appointment form online.
  • You will need to attend the appointment in person. Do your family members also need to register with the municipality? Then they need to accompany you to the appointment.
