SamenHaags: integration programme for internationals in The Hague

To help new international residents integrate into Dutch society, the Municipality of The Hague is offering the free SamenHaags pilot programme. SamenHaags combines intense language classes with community work and networking.

About the SamenHaags programme

The SamenHaags programme will help participants:

  • improve their Dutch (4 levels of instruction are available)
  • meet other people and build their network based on shared interests (using the SamenHaags app)
  • gain practical (community work) experience
  • get to know The Hague and the local way of life

The programme is geared to immigrants living in The Hague as well as internationals who are planning to live in the Netherlands for a longer time. Examples include non-employed spouses/partners and international students.

Who qualifies for the programme?

To qualify for the programme, participants need to:

  • be registered as a resident of The Hague
  • be unable to pay for a Dutch course themselves
  • be available 5 half days or 4 full days per week (if the candidate is already working in a Dutch environment he/she could be exempted from the community work requirement)
  • be available for between 6 and 12 months
  • not be currently enrolled in other government-funded programmes (eg. Mondriaan language courses)
