Work at intersections of Laan van Meerdervoort and Conradkade and Regentesselaan

From 8 August to 23 September 2022 there will be work carried out on the traffic control system at the intersection of the Laan van Meerdervoort and Conradkade. There will also be work done on the bicycle crossings at the intersection of the Laan van Meerdervoort and Regentesselaan.

The modifications are meant to improve the flow of traffic and traffic safety.

What is going to happen?

Traffic control system

  • The traffic control system will be replaced by an energy-efficient system.
  • Inductive loops will be installed for vehicular traffic. This will improve the flow of traffic.

Bicycle crossings

  • The bicycle crossings at the intersection of the Laan van Meerdervoort and Regentesselaan will be moved and separated from the traffic lane.
  • The lineation will be modified.

Schedule

The work started on Monday, 8 August. It is expected to last until 23 September 2022.

Diversions and traffic disruptions

During the project there will be traffic disruptions or road closures. The contractor will continuously put yellow traffic signs with diversion routes in strategic spots. The dates under the signs are subject to change depending on how quickly the work takes place.

Until 19 September 2022

There will be disruptions to traffic. There will be a maximum speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour in the area where the work is taking place.

From 29 August to 4 September 2022

Traffic from the Laan van Meerdervoort will not be able to turn into the Regentesselaan and will follow a detour over the tram rails.

    Until 11 September 2022

    The Regentesselaan will be closed at the intersection. You will not be able to turn into the Laan van Meerdervoort from the Regentesselaan. Traffic will be able to continue straight through on the Laan van Meerdervoort.

    From 19 September to 23 September 2022

    New asphalt will be laid during the nights of Friday, 19 September and Saturday, 20 September. The intersection will then be completely closed to all traffic. There will be no road closures the rest of the week. There will be traffic disruptions, however: There will be a maximum speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour in the area where the work is taking place.

    8 August to 23 September

    Vehicular traffic on the Laan van Meerdervoort driving towards Kijkduin will follow a diversion via the Regentesselaan, Loosduinseweg and Valkenboslaan to the Valkenbosplein. Vehicular traffic coming from Kijkduin will follow a diversion via the Beeklaan and Regentesselaan. Cyclists will follow a diversion via the Columbusstraat.

    In September

    As of mid-September you will also be able to drive from the Laan van Meerdervoort in 2 directions via the Groot Hertoginnelaan or Regentesselaan and Beeklaan. Cyclists will be able to ride on the odd numbered side of the Laan van Meerdervoort to the Suezkade.

    Pedestrians

    A traffic controller will direct pedestrians along the work site if needed. The traffic controller will be present from 7.00 to 19.00 hrs. The Conradkade tram stop will remain accessible.

    Parking

    The contractor will be using 4 parking spaces during the project. There are parking spaces along the Suezkade, on the right-hand side of the Archimedes Medisch Centrum.

    Public transport

    Tram lines 3, 34 and 11 have to ride slower at the intersections. The trams stops will always remain accessible to pedestrians. Look for more information at www.htm.nl.

    Safety

    The municipality aims to do everything it can to ensure that the work is carried out safely. Nevertheless work sites remain dangerous places. Keep children away.

    Emergency service vehicles (ambulance, fire department and police) will always be able to cross the intersection.
