Vaillantlaan/Calandstraat: connection to Waldorpstraat closed as of 9 January

Published: 8 January 2021Modified: 11 January 2021

As of 9 January 2021 vehicular traffic will no longer be able to turn left from the Vaillantlaan to the Waldorpstraat. The turning lane from the Vaillantlaan/Calandstraat (De Put) to the Waldorpstraat will close during the night of 8 January.

The municipality previously took measures to stop cut-through traffic between the Schilderswijk and Stationsbuurt. As a consequence it has now become busier on the Vaillantlaan towards the Neherkade. This has resulted in longer queues at the traffic light before the intersections at the Parallelweg and in De Put. To improve the flow of traffic, the municipality is removing the left turning lane to the Waldorpstraat.

Waldorpstraat to be closed off

Lane closed

The turning lane from the Vaillantlaan/Calandstraat (De Put) to the Waldorpstraat will be removed. Only emergency service vehicles will still be authorised to turn left from De Put. For other traffic the Laakhavens neighbourhood is accessible via the Van der Kunstraat (Megastores) or via the Leeghwaterplein, from the Neherkade.

Planning

Work will be carried out as of 19.00 hrs. during the evening and night of 8 January 2021. As of that moment you will no longer be able to turn left from De Put to the Waldorpstraat.

New routes for cars

  • Following the previous adaptations cars can no longer drive on the Hoefkade from the Stationsbuurt to the Schilderswijk and the other way around via the Parallelweg to the Stationsbuurt. Through traffic will now drive via the Vaillantlaan. The quickest route to the A4 and A12 is now via the Neherkade (S100).
  • The Stationsbuurt will remain accessible to residents and businesses via the Veerkade and Rijswijkseplein/Oranjelaan.
  • The Schilderswijk will remain accessible via the Parallelweg, Hoefkade, Boekhorststraat and Koningsstraat.
