Travel advisory for Red Bull Knock Out

Published: 9 November 2018Modified: 9 November 2018

Scheveningen beach will form the backdrop for the Red Bull Knock Out on Saturday, 10 November 2018. Plan for it to be busy on the roads.

Make sure you arrive on time and plan for it to be busy when you leave the event. Businesses will remain accessible during the Red Bull Knock Out, in the harbour area as well.

Travel advisory

The travel advisory is to come to the event on public transportation or on your moped or bicycle. Are you still planning to drive? Bear in mind that the parking garages in Scheveningen fill up quickly. Follow the instructions of the traffic wardens and the electronic information signs along and above the roads.

The roads are expected to be at their busiest around 12.00 hrs.  It will be difficult to get to Scheveningen as of then. Leave yourself plenty of time. To avoid the traffic jams at the end of the race, you could extend your stay in Scheveningen by going to one of the many restaurants on the boulevard and in the harbour.

P+R locations

You can also make use of the designated P+R locations in the city and take public transportation for the last part of your journey. The P+R locations are found primarily around the city centre. Remember that the parking garages in the centre also fill up quickly. Go to the page on Park-and-ride The Hague for more information

Road closures

No streets will be closed as long as it is not necessary for traffic and safety reasons. However, a number of roads will be closed to set up the racing site:

  • The Strandweg from the Vissershavenweg roundabout to the Adriaan Maasplein is closed as of 6.00 hrs. from 9 to 11 November. A parking ban is also in effect from 5 to 16 November.
  • The Strandweg between the Strandweg-Vissershavenweg roundabout and the Scheveningseslag is closed to all traffic as of 6.00 hrs. from 9 to 11 November. It will not be possible to park anywhere on the Strandweg on 9 and 10 November.

The Strandweg to the Vissershavenweg roundabout will open again as of 14.00 hrs. on Sunday, 11 November. Everything will return to normal again on 17 November.

A number of measures will be in effect for local traffic. Extra traffic measures will be taken if there a big traffic jams or when the parking garages are full.
