The Hague to spruce up 13 downtown small streets

Published: 14 December 2017Modified: 14 December 2017

The Hague’s downtown area is continually under development. Not only is the municipality investing money in the area’s main routes, such as Noordeinde, Tournooiveld and from the Spui to Kneuterdijk, but now it is focusing attention on the most important connecting streets between the main routes downtown. The streets will be made more pleasant and inviting.

In 2016 the programme began with 3 small streets around the Denneweg (the Spekstraat, Maliestraat and Jagerstraat). For 2017 and 2018 an additional 13 connecting streets in the centre will be addressed.

The 13 streets are: Achterom, Annastraat, Apendans, Bagijnestraat, Doelenstraat, Gortstraat, Halstraat, Hartogstraat, Hoge Nieuwstraat, Kissemstraat, Korte Koediefstraat/Koediefstraat, Raamstraat, Schoorsteenvegerstraat. The possibilities for upgrading these streets include: new paving, new street lighting, more plants and trees, removal of graffiti and a new coat of paint. A sum of € 450,000 has been earmarked for this project.
