The Municipality of The Hague and One Young World have given the starting shot for the activities around the One Young World Summit 2018 from 17 to 20 October in The Hague. More than 1,800 talented young leaders from more than 190 countries will travel to The Hague to build a better, more just and safe world. This will be the largest One Young World Summit ever.

Prior to and during One Young World the Municipality of The Hague and many partners will organise a number of activities to bring the young leaders of One Young World in contact with young people in the Hague. The municipality is working with 12 young professionals as local One Young World Ambassadors. They will organise various projects for young people in the city along the themes of One Young World and are active on social media to make contact with the international delegates to the conference.

Two special editions of HagueTalks, an interactive discussion platform about peace and justice, will take place. The Hague University will organise guest lectures by One Young World speakers and provided scholarships for its students.

Community Dinner

During the conference 21 organisations will host the more than 1800 delegates at different locations in the city for a Community Dinner. The host organisations will hold talks during the dinner with the young professionals about their goals for a better world. These dinners will take place at surprising locations, such as in community restaurants in different neighbourhoods (Resto Van Harte), at The Hague University, in the Humanity Hub, in the ADO Den Haag stadium and even in an Albert Heijn supermarket.

Getting to know the city

The delegates will also visit a number of international organisations in the International Zone. A special breakfast session with Hague start-ups will be held in the Binckhorst and there will be a foodtruck festival on the Pier. International journalists will get the opportunity to become acquainted with the international city of peace and justice during a special tour of The Hague.

Blue sweatshirts

One Young World The Hague takes place in the World Forum, but the young leaders can also be found in the city, for example, during the opening ceremony in the Peace Palace and during the Community Dinners. They can be recognised by their blue One Young World hooded sweatshirts.
