The Hague to give away 1,000 trees again this year

Published: 7 June 2022Modified: 23 May 2022

The municipality is again handing out 1,000 trees this year. Last year only residents were able to request a free tree. This year schools, sport clubs, companies and other organisations can also apply for a tree. You can apply between 7 June and 31 July.

Trees make The Hague a healthy and pleasant city to live in. Trees provide shade in the heat and absorb (excess) rainwater. They also play a role in providing variety in plant and animal species in the city (biodiversity).

This is why the municipality is planting extra trees the coming years and is handing out free trees.

Stichting Duurzaam Den Haag is organising the distribution of the trees. You can find more information about this campaign on the website www.bomenvoordenhaag.nl. You can also apply for a free tree on this website.

The municipality will deliver the trees to applicants in November and December this year.
