The Hague providing shelter to refugees from Ukraine

Published: 4 March 2022Modified: 9 May 2022

The municipality is currently arranging shelter for the refugees from Ukraine. The municipality will announce the locations of the reception centres soon.

The municipality is concerned about the people in Ukraine and everyone with ties to this country. There are currently more than 1 million Ukrainians fleeing the country because of the war. Refugees are also coming to The Hague. The first Ukrainians have already arrived in The Hague and are being put up in a hotel.

Initial reception in hotels

The municipality is now mainly arranging the initial reception and housing for the refugees. Refugees who now contact the municipality and have no housing will be put up in hotels. There are approximately 200 spots available. This number can quickly be increased to 500. The municipality has made arrangements with Stichting Noodopvang and a number of hotels for the initial reception.

Provide shelter yourself

The municipality is continuing to look for other possibilities for housing. You can help the municipality come up with ideas. Would you like to let a refugee stay over at your home? Read more information on the website of Vluchtelingenwerk.

You can also provide housing via Takecarebnb. This organisation is coordinating supply and demand for lodgings in cooperation with the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA).

Make a donation

You can help by donating money through Giro 555. Your donation will be used for medical care, food, shelter and spiritual and social assistance. The Red Cross is one of the aid organisations behind Giro 555.

You can also donate money to the UNHCR. This is the international refugee agency now providing emergency aid on the ground in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries.
