The Municipality of The Hague is investing € 15 million in De Titaan, a multi-functional business centre for growing innovative companies (scale-ups) in the Binckhorst.

The Binckhorst, the spot for start-ups, already had 2 large creative facility-sharing buildings: BINK36 and the Caballero Factory. De Titaan, located directly next to the Caballero Factory, was the factory’s old storehouse and will have space for about 70 companies and more than 350 jobs. In addition to work spaces, meeting rooms, open work spaces and a café will be located in the central hall.

Architectural bureau Braaksma & Roos was asked to draw up a renovation plan. The existing building at Saturnusstraat 95 will be made sustainable and expanded by adding an extra story. The design should be strong, solid and timeless.

A green public space with seating will be created by the main entrance which is located on the water. A new walking path will lead along the water from the Melkwegstraat, past the Kompaan Brewery to the restaurant MaMa Kelly and De Titaan on the Saturnusstraat.

The municipality will manage De Titaan itself. Work will begin in October 2019 and should be completed by September 2021.
