Share your ideas on traffic and transportation in the city

Published: 28 November 2019Modified: 4 December 2019

How can The Hague remain liveable and accessible? The municipality will hold talks with the city starting on 3 December 2019. These talks will take place at different locations. Your opinions and suggestions will be used as input for the Hague Mobility Transition programme.

Looking differently at mobility in the city

The Hague is growing. There is not enough space for traffic and it is getting busier. If we want to prevent the city from clogging up and if we want to ensure that the city remains liveable, we need to make choices and come up with solutions. Which ones? How will you travel to your work in the future? Which choice would you make for your street if you have to choose between space for parking, green or playing?  Will there be more programmes for car, bicycle and scooter sharing? And where do we park them? These are the questions the municipality will be discussing in the coming months with experts, businesses, residents, organisations and the region.

Walking, cycling and OV

The talks are part of the mobility transition programme. In 2040 mobility needs to be safe, efficient, clean, tailor made and affordable. The municipality will promote modes of transportation which take up little space and are good for the city. For example, encouraging bicycle, car and scooter sharing so that it is no longer necessary to own your own transportation. And by making sure that different modes of transportation connect better with each other so that people have more possibilities for getting around.

Talk about traffic and transportation

The municipality is holding talks with experts, businesses, residents, organisations and the region. Join in the discussions! How will you travel to your work in 5 years? Is the traffic safe in your neighbourhood? Will we still all be able to park our cars? People taking part in the discussions do not have to me an expert in the area of mobility. The idea is to share how you are experiencing the current situation and what your wishes and expectations are for the future. To take part in one of the MobiliteitsAteliers you much live and/or work in the city district.

It is especially fine if you are representing a group such as residents, shop owners or a sports club. The municipality will use the ideas as input for a programme for future mobility in The Hague. It will be ready at the beginning of 2020.
