Share your ideas on traffic and transportation in the city

Published: 31 July 2019Modified: 31 July 2019

How can The Hague remain liveable and accessible? Deputy Mayor Robert van Asten will begin holding talks in the city starting on 21 August 2019. You can talk with the alderman at different locations. Your opinions and suggestions will be used as input for the Mobility Transition programme.

Looking differently at mobility in the city

The Hague is growing. There is not enough space for traffic and it is getting busier. If we want to prevent the city from clogging up and if we want to ensure that the city remains liveable, we need to make choices and come up with solutions. Which ones? How will you travel to your work in the future? Which choice would you make for your street if you have to choose between space for parking, green or playing?  Will there be more car sharing programmes, bicycles and scooters? And where do we park them? These are the questions the municipality will be discussing in the coming months with experts, businesses, residents, organisations and the region.

Walking, cycling and OV

The talks are part of the mobility transition programme. In 2040 mobility needs to be safe, efficient, clean, tailor made and affordable. The municipality will promote modes of transportation which take up little space and are good for the city. For example, encouraging residents to share bicycles, cars and scooters so that it is no longer necessary to own your own transportation. And by making sure that different modes of transportation connect better with each other so that people have more opportunities to get around.

Talk with the alderman

Deputy Mayor Van Asten will talk with residents in the city about mobility from 21 August to 1 November 2019. Share your solutions for accessibility, traffic and transport with the municipality. And take part in the street game. How can the limited space in our city be used as optimally as possible? Help to design a street.
