Request an aboveground container for plastic, tin and drink cartons

Published: 17 December 2019Modified: 19 December 2019

The municipality would like to make it as easy as possible for you to separate your waste. Is there no container for plastic packaging, tin and drink cartons in your neighbourhood? Request an aboveground container and indicate the location where this container should be placed.

By separating your household waste many materials can be turned into new products. Plastic, tin and drink cartons can be used to make new tin cans, packaging, crates and toilet paper, for example. You can help to reduce the amount of waste going to the incinerator. And this is good for the environment.

Request a container

You can request an abovegorund rubbish container by sending an email to Include your name, address, contact information and a description of the location where you would like to have a container for plastic, tin and drink cartons placed.

Do you live in Leidschenveen, Vogelwijk, Vroondaal, de Uithof, Florence Nightingale Park or Wateringse Veld? Then it is not possible to request an aboveground container. In these neighbourhoods plastic packaging, tin and drink cartons are collected in mini containers (klikos).

The municipality will assess your request with the following conditions in mind:

  • There are no other containers for plastic, tin and drink cartons within a radius of 250 metres.
  • Garbage trucks must be able to access the container. The road should be wide enough and no other obstacles can be standing in the way such as trees, lamp posts, overhead cables or awnings.
  • The container has to be able to be emptied in a safe way. It may not be lifted above parked cars, bicycle or sidewalks while it is being emptied.
  • Take into consideration any nuisance to your neighbours when requesting the container. The container will preferably not be placed in front of a window or door of a home. It should be standing at least 1.5 metres from the front of the building.
