Prinses Beatrixlaan: roadworks

Published: 25 August 2020Modified: 3 September 2020

The traffic control systems on the Prinses Beatrixlaan are being replaced. The work will last from 31 August to 15 October 2020.

Traffic control systems include traffic lights and everything related to them, such as cupboards, masts, cables, wires, cameras and loops on the road to measure traffic.

If the equipment is more than 15 years old, there is a greater chance of a technical malfunction. When a traffic light suddenly stops working, dangerous situation can arise. The municipality is therefore replacing the equipment on time. This is also taking place at the intersection between the Prinses Beatrixlaan and Prinses Marijkestraat.

During the project the municipality is replacing all traffic systems above the ground, such as the traffic lights. New cables and wires will be placed under the ground. New detection loops will be installed in the road surface. The work will last from 31 August to 15 October 2020.

During the roadworks cars can continue using intersection. However, the speed limit has been lowered. This could lead to extra travel time. Pedestrians, cyclists and moped drivers can continue to use the intersection. Traffic wardens will be deployed to ensure that traffic keeps moving during the roadworks.
