Opening hours for The Hague’s swimming pools

Residents of The Hague with a swimming certificate can again swim laps, do recreational swimming and take part in other swimming activities. Look at the swimming rules and the current opening hours for The Hague’s swimming pools.

As of Thursday, 9 July you no longer need to use the ZwemApp to register in advance if you would like to go swimming. However, there is still a limit on the maximum number of adult swimmers allowed in the pool. The maximum number of swimmers varies per swimming pool.

The rules for swimming were eased at the beginning of July. Residents of The Hague younger than 18 years are able to do recreational swimming again. You do not need to register in advance to go swimming. There is still a limit on the maximum number of adult swimmers allowed in the pool. This number varies per swimming pool. A number of explicit rules are still in effect. The rules are posted below. Click on the links for the individual swimming pools to see the current opening hours.

Do not forget to take your swimming pass or valid ID with you.

Opening hours in the summer vacation (as of 18 July)

The swimming pools will have different hours of operation during the summer vacation from 18 July to 30 August. You will be able to swim in Het Hofbad, Overbosch and Zuiderpark. The other swimming pools will be closed. You can find the opening hours and swimming activities in the summer vacation below.

Lap swimming

You do not need to keep a distance of 1.5 metres from others in the water during these activities. Directly following the activity the 1.5 metre rule applies to adults who are among adults and to 13 to 18 year olds who are among adults.  

Recreational swimming for youth under 18 years

Recreational swimming is available for children under 18 years of age who have a swimming certificate. Parents and chaperones are not allowed to accompany them. Children under the age of 18 years are allowed to come into contact with each other. However, 13 to 17 year olds are obliged to keep a distance of 1.5 metres from adults.

Follow the swimming rules

To make sure everybody can swim safely a number of explicit rules are in effect:

  • Do not arrive any earlier than 10 minutes for your activity at the swimming pool.
  • Stay home if you have a cold or flu-like symptoms.
  • Take your swimming pass or valid ID with you.
  • Make contactless payments or pay with a bank card (with PIN).
  • Keep a distance of 1.5 metres from others when you are out of the water. Follow the walking routes. Always follow the instructions of the staff.
