Opening hours for The Hague’s swimming pools

Published: 12 August 2020Modified: 12 August 2020

The swimming pools will have different hours of operation during the summer vacation from 18 July to 30 August. You can swim in Het Hofbad, Overbosch and Zuiderpark. The other swimming pools will be closed. Look at the swimming rules and the current opening hours on this page.

The rules for swimming were eased at the beginning of July. Residents of The Hague under the age of 18 are able to do recreational swimming again. You do not need to register in advance to go swimming. A number of explicit rules are still in effect. The rules are posted below. Click on the links for the individual swimming pools to see the current opening hours. Do not forget to take your swimming pass or valid ID with you.

Lap swimming

Everybody with a swimming certificate is allowed to swim laps. You do not need to keep a distance of 1.5 metres from others in the water when swimming laps. Directly following the activity the 1.5 metre rule applies to adults who are among adults and to 13 to 18 year olds who are among adults.

Recreational swimming

Recreational swimming is available for children under 18 years of age who have a swimming certificate. Parents and chaperones are not allowed to accompany them. Swimming pool staff may ask you to wait your turn if it is too busy.

Children under the age of 18 years are allowed to come into contact with each other. However, 13 to 17 year olds are obliged to keep a distance of 1.5 metres from adults.

Family swimming

Parents can come to the pool with their children during family swimming. In the Zuiderpark swimming pool parents can come with children up to the age of 12. In Het Hofbad and Overbosch swimming pools children up to the age of 17 are permitted.

People from the same household do not have to keep distance from each other. Otherwise the 1.5 metre rule is in effect for adults who are among adults and for 13 to 17 year olds who are among adults.

Vacation activities and clinics

Fun activities will be organised for youths in the Overbosch swimming pool. Disco swimming, water games and who can make the biggest splash?!

A water aerobics and aquajogging clinic will be given for adults. You can take part in the clinics for free if you purchase a ticket for recreational swimming.

Follow the swimming rules

To make sure everybody can swim safely a number of explicit rules are in effect:

  • Do not arrive any earlier than 10 minutes for your activity at the swimming pool.
  • Stay home if you have a cold or flu-like symptoms.
  • Take your swimming pass or valid ID with you.
  • Make contactless payments or pay with a bank card (with PIN).
  • Keep a distance of 1.5 metres from others when you are out of the water. Follow the walking routes. Always follow the instructions of the staff.
