No more acceptgiro for ground lease as of 1 January

Published: 25 January 2018Modified: 2 February 2018

Since January 2018 residents of The Hague who pay ground lease (erfpacht) to the municipality can no longer pay their bill by acceptgiro. Payments can now only be made by direct debit, iDeal or internet banking.

In December 2016 and July 2017 fake bills with a phony bank account number were sent to people who pay ground lease. Unfortunately a number of leaseholders transferred money to this bank account. In order to prevent this kind of fraud in the future, the municipality has stopped sending out acceptgiro payment transfer slips for ground lease payments.

In January the municipality sent out a notification that leaseholders could pay their ground lease bill for the second half of 2017.

Paying for ground lease

The bill can be paid by direct debit, iDeal on MijnDenHaag or by internet banking. It is easiest to pay the ground lease bill by direct debit. The amount will be deducted from your bank account automatically each half year (in January and July). Are you paying through internet? Always make sure that you are using the correct bank account number for the Municipality of The Hague.
