Municipality checking dog tax

Published: 30 November 2020Modified: 30 November 2020

Over the coming weeks the municipality will be carrying out its annual check on dog taxes. Door-to-door checks will take place in different neighbourhoods in the city. The goal is to track down dog owners who have not paid their dog tax.

Most dog owners report their pets properly and on time. However, there is a small percentage of dog owners who ignore the rules. This is not only unfair to dog owners who do fulfil their tax obligations but it is also punishable by fine.

Legitiem inspectors

The company Legitiem will carry out the door-to-door checks on behalf of the municipality. The inspectors will be able to identify themselves using an identity card from the municipality. They will comply with the safety measures around the coronavirus during the checks.
