More people can choose between ground lease and ownership

More people will get the opportunity to purchase the ground on which their home is standing. The number of addresses where this is possible has been expanded from more than 22,000 to more than 33,000.

In The Hague the municipality releases the ground in some parts of the city only in the form of ground lease. In other areas leaseholders are able to choose between owning their own land or ground lease. The coalition agreement makes it possible for more people to acquire ownership of their land.

Property value

The new policy will make purchasing ownership simpler and more transparent. Previously an appraisal first needed to take place. Now the property value (WOZ-waarde) of the premises will determine the purchase value. Only owners with a lease in perpetuity plus bought off lease obligation will be eligible for the new measures.

Would you like to know if your address is eligible? Look at From ground lease to own land and enter your address in the map. Leaseholders with an address in 1 of the new areas will soon receive a letter from the municipality on this subject.
