Makeover for Badhuiskade skateboard park

Published: 29 June 2018Modified: 29 June 2018

The Badhuiskade skateboard park on the Haringkade was spruced up in May and June 2018. The Scheveningen city district commissioned the project to Urban Senses. The company used the theme of ‘Beach and sea’. It is again popular among young people in the neighbourhood.

The makeover also looked at ways the park could be kept safe and tidy. The following changes were made:

  • The skateboard track and the transformer house were adorned with street art with a ‘Beach and sea’ theme.
  • Children from De Vuurtoren primary school designed an 'urban puzzle' for the fence along the skateboard track. This extra play element in the park is in the form of a puzzle consisting of coloured plastic blocks.
  • There are also rules posted by the 2 entrances to the skateboard park which make it clear that bicycles are not allowed there. This was done using signs featuring photos of children asking cyclists to dismount from their bikes.
