Laan van Meerdervoort: roadworks

Published: 7 August 2019Modified: 7 August 2019

The 2nd phase of the roadworks on the Laan van Meerdervoort will begin on Monday, 9 September. The work is expected to last until Friday, 18 October 2019.

What will happen?

  • The Laan van Meerdervoort (in the direction of Loosduinen) will be renewed between the Goudenregenstraat and the Azaleaplein.
  • The parking spaces and the sidewalks will be repaved.
  • The street and the cycle path will get a new layer of asphalt.
  • The asphalt between the tram tracks will be replaced.
  • The Azaleaplein will get new pavement.

Work at night

In the week from 14 to 18 October the road between the tram tracks will get a new layer of asphalt. This can only be carried out at night. Work will start after the last tram has completed its route at approximately 1.00 hrs. It will probably last 2 nights. If the work is not ready in 2 nights, it will continue a 3rd night.

During this week magnetic loops will also be made in the tram tracks during the evening hours. This work will cause some amount of noise. The municipality is asking for your understanding.

The road lane in the direction of Loosduinen, the bicycle lane and the parking spaces will be clowed to traffic. Homes and businesses will remain accessible to pedestrians. Gangways will be placed in spots where the sidewalk has been opened up.

Vehicular traffic driving towards Loosduinen will be diverted via 2 routes:

  • the Goudenregenstraat, Kamperfoeliestraat, Mient, Laan van Eik en Duinen
  • Goudenregenplein, Azaleastraat/Azaleaplein.

Cyclists will also be diverted via the Goudenregeplein, Azaleastraat/Azaleaplein.

The diversion route for cyclists is indicated in yellow on the map; the diversion for vehicular traffic is in blue and the portion of the road where work is being carried out is in red (only the road in the direction of Kijkduin).

You are not permitted to park on the Laan van Meerdervoort from 9 September to 18 October 2019 in the portion where work is being carried out.

Public transport

The work will not have any repercussions for the tram and bus.

Overhanging green

The municipality is asking residents who have a hedge or other plants or trees bordering the sidewalk to cut them back if they are hanging over the sidewalk. The road workers will then be able to do their work well when they repave the sidewalk.

No bikes or mopeds on the sidewalk

No bicycles, scooters or other objects may be placed on the sidewalks in front of the houses during the work. Please make sure that these are gone on Monday, 9 September.

Household waste and oversized waste

While the work is taking place the garbage trucks will not be able to pick up any rubbish in this section of the Laan van Meerdervoort. Temporary pick-up spots for household waste will be made on the Lijsterplein, the corner of the Vogelkersstraat/Magnoliastraat and on the Azaleaplein. You can dispose of your waste here on the regular collection days. You can also leave your oversized waste here. You must first make an appointment to have your oversized waste collected. Indicate where you are leaving the oversized waste.

The green dots indicate the spots where temporary aboveground waste containers are located.

The municipality is working as safely as possible. Nevertheless working areas remain dangerous places. Instruct children not to play in the area.
