Laakhaven boat cranes to get makeover

Published: 26 July 2018Modified: 26 July 2018

The 2 big boat cranes in Laakhaven will get a makeover. Some of the work will cause noise. Read when the work will take place.

The 2 boat cranes are standing along the Neherkade and Calandkade. Both cranes have become historic municipal monuments and are now therefore considered industrial heritage sites. This is why the cranes will be restored to their former glory.

The cranes will first be stripped of all their layers of paint and then painted again.

  • Work began on the boat crane on the Neherkade on 16 July. Stripping the paint will cause loud noise between 16 and 27 July from 8.00 to 17.00 hrs. The crane will then be repainted, causing only a minimal amount of noise.
  • The boat crane on the Calandkade will be put in scaffolding as of 23 July. The paint will be removed starting on 20 August 2018 and will last approximately 10 weekdays. There will be noise from 8.00 to 17.00 hrs. Thereafter the crane will be repainted, causing only a minimal amount of noise.

If you have questions about this work, contact the municipality’s Central Property Department on tel. (070) 752 81 41.
