Ideas welcome for Hague Sport District

Published: 5 February 2019Modified: 5 February 2019

Would you like to help turn Escamp into the Hague Sport District? Residents, organisations and the municipality are working together to make Escamp the city district where residents are most physically active. Do you have an idea to get people to become more active? Share your ideas!

The Hague Sport District (Haags Sportkwartier) will be about more than being physically active and doing sports. Sports improve people’s daily lives and their living environment.

Together with the neighbourhoods

Some 70,000 people live in the neighbourhoods of Moerwijk, Morgenstond, Bouwlust and Vrederust. Half of these people are sufficiently active for their health. The other half is not and the goal is to get them physically active and doing sports. Students, welfare organisations, sport clubs, schools and other partners will assist here. Local heroes in the neighbourhoods will also play a large role.

Zuiderpark Sport Campus and Uithof

The Sport Campus in Zuiderpark will become the sports centre for these 4 neighbourhoods. The 1,500 students doing sport studies at the campus offer unique opportunities for this area of the city. With their study they can help to transform Escamp into the Hague Sport District. The Uithof is also an enormous sports icon in the neighbourhood. And the district also has a large number of sports fields.
