Published: 11 March 2020Modified: 30 April 2020

Do you have old items you would like to get rid of? Turn them in during The Hague Clean-up Days (Haagse Opruimdagen). Items which can still be used will go to the second-hand stores and oversized waste will be disposed of properly. You can also stop by with your questions about rubbish and separating waste? Read where and when the clean-up days are. Will you also take part?

The clean-up days for 2020 will not be taking place for the time being due to the coronavirus. Once it is known when the clean-up days will begin, you will find the schedule on this page.

What you can turn in on the clean-up days

  • Oversized waste (such as furniture, household items, boards, boxes and large pieces of glass)
  • Items for the thrift shop
  • Old bicycles
  • Small electrical appliances (appliances with a plug or battery which are not larger than about 50 cm. Examples: mixer, vacuum cleaner, iron, toys, radio and TV, computer and printer, video, tools, telephone and charger, lighting, music, smoke detector, clock and watch)
  • Domestic chemical waste (such as paint, lamps and batteries)

You can not dispose of construction and demolition waste during the clean-up days.

Separating waste

During the clean-up days coaches from the Haags Milieu Service (HMS) garbage collection service will provide information on rubbish and separating waste. Do you have questions? Fire away!

Have oversized waste collected

Do you have items you would like to get rid of now? You can have oversized household waste picked up from your home for free. You need to make an appointment. Read more on the page Collection of oversized waste and garden waste. Many second-hand stores in The Hague also pick up old items for free.
