Published: 20 June 2022Modified: 23 June 2022

Dutch Veterans Day takes place on Saturday, 25 June 2022. A large part of The Hague’s downtown area will be closed to traffic. A number of parking garages will also be closed.

Veterans Day is a national event taking place this year for the 18th time. On this day the Netherlands thanks all of the 100,000 military veterans for their commitment and effort, now and in the past. A colourful parade through The Hague’s downtown area starts at 13.30 hrs. H.M. King Willem-Alexander will take the salute from the veterans and military personnel on the Kneuterdijk.

The streets where the parade will pass will be closed to all traffic from 9.00 to 16.00 hrs. at the latest on 25 June. This also applies to a large area around these streets.

The parade route will proceed from Malieveld to the Koningskade, via the Korte and Lange Voorhout to Kneuterdijk. It will then go to the Buitenhof, Hofweg, Spui, Kalvermarkt, Fluwelen Burgwal, Herengracht and Prinsessegracht via the Bosbrug again back to Malieveld.

Local traffic will be able to enter the closed-off area until 9.00 hrs. and exit until 10.00 hrs. via the Kneuterdijk, Hofweg and Spui. Crossings for pedestrians will be made at a number of spots.
