Binckhorstbrug narrowed and closed to heavy traffic

The municipality is carrying out work on the Binckhorstbrug. Trucks and buses will therefore not be allowed to drive on the bridge. For cars the maximum speed at this spot has been lowered from 50 to 30 kilometres per hour.

The road has been narrowed to reduce the speed of traffic. Traffic controllers will enforce the speed limit. Cyclists and pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge as usual. The measures will remain in force at least until the bridge has been fixed up.

The 85-year-old Binckhorstbrug is in poor condition. The municipality has to take traffic measures for safety reasons. The safety of the bridge will be checked every 2 weeks. If necessary, extra measures will be taken.

There is a diversion route for trucks and buses. Yellow signs indicate this route.

  • The diversion route 'into the city' will use the Melkwegstraat.
  • The diversion route 'out of the city' will use the Zonweg and Regulusweg.
  • The Jupiterkade and Junostraat will become one-way streets for trucks and buses.
  • Traffic can also take the Rotterdamsebaan or the Supernovaweg.
  • In the spring of 2022 the diversion route will be modified due to work on the Melkwegstraat.
