Benoordenhoutseweg: work on cycle path

Published: 20 May 2020Modified:

The Benoordenhoutseweg now has a bricked cycle path between Oosterbeek and the Waalsdorperlaan. The municipality will replace the bricks with red asphalt.

The project will begin on 1 June and it will last until 10 July 2020. Cyclists will be diverted during the project.

Accessibility

Park Oosterbeek will remain accessible by bike via the Benoordenhoutseweg from Uilennest, apart from a number of weekday (9.00 to 15.00 hrs.) at the end of the project.

What is going to happen?

  • The bricks of the cycle path on the Benoordenhoutseweg will be replaced with red asphalt. The cycle path will not change its width or location.
  • The side walls on the bridge to Park Oosterbeek will be shortened; the cycle path will be made wider here.

Promoting the use of bicycles

The Hague is growing and residents are opting more often to use their bicycles. The municipality aims to promote the use of bicycles because cycling is beneficial to health, the environment and the accessibility of the city. This calls for good infrastructure for cyclists in the city, including better and smoother cycle paths.
