Asbestos found in former American Embassy building

Some loose asbestos fibres have been found in the former United States Embassy building on the Lange Voorhout. Part of the art exhibition in the building is therefore closed. The municipality is the owner of the building and will take measures to remove it as quickly as possible.

An investigation led to the finding of some fibres in a technical room and in the public space. The left-wing on the ground floor has therefore been closed to staff and the public. The exhibition in this part of the building is also closed.

A thorough investigation has shown that the health risks to visitors and staff are negligible. The clean-up will take place within 2 weeks and this part of the exhibition will then reopen to the public.
