The Municipality of The Hague joined the Alliance for a Smoke-free Netherlands on 19 December as part of the campaign for a smoke-free generation. The city farms have been non-smoking since November 2017. A non-smoking location is beneficial not only to children, but also to animals.

No smoking on the grounds

Nobody is allowed to smoke on the grounds of The Hague’s city farms. This sets a good example for children. Apart from being healthy, it is also safer to play in a smoke-free environment.

Research also shows that children who see other people smoking are more likely themselves to start smoking when they are older.

A smoke-free and healthy environment is important for everybody. A smoke-free city farm is healthier for the animals as well.
